Christian

We are a Christian church.

We believe that the entire Bible is centered on God's love for us.  God showed His love for us by sending His Son, Jesus Christ, to live a perfect life for us, to willingly die on the cross for us, and to triumphantly rise from the dead to win for us eternal life in Paradise.

At Forgiven, we strive to share and show the love of Christ!

Here's Who We are!

Biblical

We are a Biblical church.

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and the only objective source of truth in the world.

The Bible is a book of good news about Jesus as our Savior.   It is the only place in the world we find this message of grace, and so the Bible is the ultimate authority for everything we believe, teach, and do.

Here's Who We are!

Lutheran

We are a  Lutheran Church and part of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS).

Being part of a larger group of churches allows us to be part of ministries that extend far beyond the Wausau area.  As a congregation of the WELS, we are part of extensive mission work throughout North America and the world, have an extensive 8 year pastor training program where all our pastors are immersed in the biblical languages (4 years for teachers and staff ministers), and join together in humanitarian aid efforts.

To learn more about the WELS, please visit their website.

Confessional

We are a Confessional Lutheran Church.

This means we believe that the teachings of the Bible are correctly represented in the Lutheran Confessions (found here.) These documents were prepared during the Protestant Reformation, a time in church history when God led believers back to his Word and to the historic faith taught by Jesus and the apostles. While times have changed since the writing of these documents (c. 1580 A.D.), the timeless truths of Scripture have not.

“A new commandment I give you: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, so also you are to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34,35).

We strive to be a church family that knows each other well and cares about each other. Gather events are fellowship events so that we connect as a church family.

GROW

After they preached the good news in that city and had gathered many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples and encouraging them to continue in the faith. They told them, “We must go through many troubles on our way to the kingdom of God” (Acts 14:21-22).

The Holy Spirit strengthens believers as we daily remember our baptism, daily study his Word, and regularly receive the Lord’s Supper for the forgiveness of our sins.

GO

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

As believers are strengthened through Word and Sacrament, we are compelled to be His witnesses, striving to do anything we can to share the message of Jesus with our friends, neighbors, relatives, and acquaintances.

GLORIFY

Live an honorable life among the Gentiles so that even though they slander you as evildoers, when they observe your noble deeds, they may glorify God on the day he visits us (1 Peter 2:12).

We look for personal and corporate opportunities to put our faith into action in the local community. We remember that we are serving God in our everyday lives wherever we are!

Fred, Steph, Grace, and Hope are excited to be living in the Northwoods and joining you on this adventure of starting a new church!  Fred loves hunting, fishing, golfing, grilling, and pretty much anything else outside.  Steph enjoys a cup of coffee and a good book.  We all look forward to meeting you and gathering around the best message in the world - We are forgiven because we have a Savior named Jesus!
